Joanna Sugameli

Violin. Viola. Guitar. Voice.

Joanna’s passion lies in performance. After spending four years sharpening her talents with the finer points of voice and violin studies at Berklee College of Music, Joanna has become a new addition to our Nashville musical family. Since her arrival, she is an active participant in local and touring shows as well as studio sessions.

Equally matched to her performance interests, is her passion for education. She is an experienced teacher at every level and pace. All lessons combine the same three skills: ear training, music theory, and improv. Her previous job experience writing transcriptions at the American Roots Department at Berklee, has given her the ability to write out sheet music to any audio file. Each student is led to discover their own sound.

She has the unique ability to combine techniques of classical, jazz, and folk. Joanna stands in high regard amongst her peers for having found her own sound. She will help you uncover the music that only you can make!

“I eagerly look forward to each week’s lesson. Joanna has helped me develop skill far more quickly than previous teachers, and I have had a lot of fun while doing it. Her technical mastery, unique method and knowledge of musical theory bolsters  my understanding and proficiency while we focus on my individual interests.” Patrick. 29

"I’ve been taking guitar lessons from jo for several months now and she’s the best teacher I’ve had. She’s very attentive, understanding, and flexible with scheduling. I look forward to our lessons every week, I’d recommend her for students of all ages" Jessy. 19

"After a lifetime of wishing I knew how to play the violin, a chance meeting with Joanna convinced me to take lessons. I knew it would not be easy since the violin is a beautiful, but difficult instrument and I was an older adult beginner.... Joanna patiently listened to the noise without wincing (or laughing), providing encouragement while gently coaching me on the proper techniques.... Each small victory lead to the next as she shaped my musical abilities and musicianship. I have now been taking lessons from her for almost 4 1/2 years and I am very pleased with my progress. I highly recommend Joanna as a music teacher. She plays and teaches a variety of instruments in multiple musical genres. As a working musician that performs live and in the studio, she constantly refines her own abilities as she works with other professional musicians" Bart.

"Joanna has been teaching violin and voice to my granddaughter for several years now and we couldn't be happier. She is very knowledgeable and professional and has connected with my granddaughter in a positive way. Her prices are very reasonable. She has adequate parking and a comfortable waiting area. I highly recommend Joanna no matter the students age" Alli. 13

"I think you're the best teacher I ever had" Hailey. 6
